Ugh..

Evans dot co dot uk, has been really grinding my gears. It turns out that it is quite difficult to cancel a return request. I decided too quickly to request a return for the shoes I purchased and so only realized that same night as I was dozing off, that I probably would have to pay for the postage. Damn! They need the item to arrive within 14 days of delivery, and for me to make that happen, I will have to spend at least 40$ (probably more due to the size/weight of the box) in order to get 28$ back, and that's IF they receive it. They are also asking that it has a tracking # and the price freaking doubles if I add that! But that isn't all.. I have a mysterious 40$ missing from my bank account from around the same time as the initial transaction. Because for some idiotic reason, paypal decided it would try to access my bank to pay for the evans purchase when I was under the comprehension that it would take it from my credit card, which it did, only because there wasn't enough in the bank. What's more, I can't remove my bank info from paypal because there is a pending transaction (the return that refuses to be cancelled!). UGH. I am trying to deal with this, and am hoping dearly that I won't have to spend/lose money that was so hard-earned.

So what do I do? I go shopping at Mouliné and eat a nénuphar at Première Moisson. (which was lovely because of the amazing Nicole of course:)

Also bought a festive nail polish in light of my birthday coming up this Monday and once again, I've not made any plans to celebrate it

so cute, but why must you shed so much!?

Piazzetta

I've been eating out so often lately! On the one hand it's great because eating out usually (um, always) means I am meeting up with friends and get to taste great food I wouldn't know how to make unless I tried and failed so many times before getting it right. Last night's occasion was sort of just to grab a bite to eat at Piazzetta before going to see Adele perform across the street. I was originally in line (a bit early and in a good spot) but in the end I left to go eat instead. The flat crust pizza I ordered (la cugina) was amazing! They also had a really enticing dessert menu that I would have ordered from if the thought of being stuck all the way at the back of the theater wasn't itching the back of my mind! Oh well.. I had a great time nonetheless and am preparing a post about Adele's amazing performance very soon. In the meantime, feast with your eyes!

Toi, Moi & Café

I met up with two good friends of mine today, we went to a small cafe that was introduced to me by another good friend, whom I bumped into on my way to meet aforementioned friends! She and her boyfriend were going to sit down for a cup after going to eat at the market. It truly is a great place and brings back customers because of the good service and amazing food. Which I forgot to photograph because I was drooling so much! However I know there will definitely be a next time and so plenty more photo ops will arise. Toi, Moi & Café has some of the best coffee ever, it's smooth and has no bitter aftertaste. As for the food, the menu is fresh and has really appetizing ingredients. You can order a ham, cheese and béchamel sauce crepe or a gourmet burger with spinach and dried tomato. It really is somewhere between slow and fast food as well as between a coffee shop and a restaurant. A really nice comfort zone where you can meet with friends and exchange gifts or plop open a text book and quietly study to lounge-y world music.

Outfit of the rainy day

Mid-May is fast approaching and the weather was beginning to feel like full on summer. That is until the weather forecast called for rain during the next 3 days. Not that it's putting a damper on any of my plans. The rain is just helping the leaves become greener and the flowers brighter. Today I would have stayed in-doors if it wasn't for the package waiting for me at the post office. These had just arrived! It was sort of a test purchase, I wanted to see if the size guide was correct and whether the shipping service was good, quality of the product, and so on. I give it all an A+ across the board. The only problem however was that the shoes were too wide and I have no idea why I thought I could handle that kind of heel! I can be truly delusional sometimes. The shoe in itself is just gorgeous but I couldn't stand in them for more than a minute. It was ridiculous really, I'm glad no one was around to see! I will indeed buy from evans again. Just no more stilettos.

Lazy...Friday?

Today I taught a friend how to make a book (the slightly longer way) and she was oh too kind by inviting me over to her place and treating me to such yummies in the image below. It also didn't hurt that she had the most adorable cat and an amazing collection of music playing in the background. Very lovely day and I got to come home to a chihuahua named Carlos who was tired of hanging out on his own and kept me company while I typed away at my computer. Look at those eyes! They say so much.

Shugah cookiezzz

It didn't take long for me to make sugar cookies again... it's all because of that 12 set cookie cutters I found for 7$ at loblaws the other day. They're really easy to make and so much fun to decorate. I know my aunt and little cousin were having a blast :D

In other news, I'll be writing a driving test soon which I am nervous for, as it'll allow me to receive a learner's permit and get behind the wheel! It's only something I've been dreaming about since I was 6.

Etsy purchase #3!!

Oh boy, could I be any more addicted? I've actually made 5 purchases in all (1 is on its way soon and the other I haven't photographed yet). I never imagined that I would be on Etsy this year, but since last January I've been taking one giant step after the other and now have 15 items in a shop and one sale under my belt. Through the experience (albeit somewhat daunting when paypal asks you to fill out a small business form), I've come to appreciate Etsy and learn how necessary it is to build knowledge as a buyer in order to be a better seller. Also, knowing that the products I'm buying are handmade and designed/packaged/etc by the seller themselves, adds a whole other level of enjoyment to it, especially considering the kind of quality that is being produced.

This purchase was once again done from Joo Sweetie's shop (total favourite price-wise and cute-wise). My second purchase from this seller was driven by the attention to detail and the quality of her creations. Her magnets are so incredibly well-designed and cute. Actually, I stumbled upon her shop because I had searched "Croatia" out of curiosity and found a magnet set (which I later bought) of two cuties greeting each other with "Zdravo" ("Hi"). This time I had to get the "let them eat cake" Marie-Antoinette and Louis magnets because.. well, you'll see in the photos, I just had to have them! But that couldn't be all, so I decided to also purchase one of her "mystery goodies" that I could give them as gifts. I do think I need a brake from all of this shopping. I should focus more on making some money if I have any hopes of making my dreams come true!

These keychains are glorious! In her shop, they seemed quite small but when I saw this one in person, it was huge! I have an idea who I could give this to..

These are gorgeous little glass bead earrings. A little detail you might not notice: the metal wire doesn't go all the way through to the bottom.

Jason Mraz 2008

Almost three lovely years ago, I got to see a singer and songwriter I've totally loved since his debut song "The Remedy" came out in 2002. I felt so incredibly lucky to have been able to buy a ticket and when I went to the show, it was even better than I had expected!! It was such a fun night. Jason Mraz is all-around talented, vocally, lyrically, musically, I wonder what else he can do??? I sincerely hope he comes to my city again and that I'll get to see and listen to him perform once more. As a teenager and even young adult, I never really went to see my favourite artitsts perform.. which is a real shame I think! It is such a euphoric experience and for (on average) 30-60$ a ticket, I think it's a small price to pay to have some happy in your life. Which is why these days I keep my first, second and third eye out for a show I know I won't want to miss and that won't burn a hole in my pocket.

Here is a compilation video of the clips I filmed during the show, hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Fantastic thrifting

As I had previously mentioned, here are the other thrift goods I bought in the last 2-3 days. I've been incredibly lucky with my finds. I found 2 gorgeous teacups, a beautiful handcut papercraft of a kitty, green themed dish-ware, a cute mini metal fish mold, some weird upside down short cup thing with gorgeous illustrations and an illustrated book of the history of photo cameras. Now that isn't actually everything, just the highlights :) I seem to be shopping with living in my own apartment in mind... I've been collecting cups/plates/dishes for a little while all within the same feel but totally mismatched, which I am loving!

I have no clue as to what this is... the drawings blew my mind and despite not knowing what to use this for, I bought it anyway!
