To Michele's students - Aux etudiants de Michele

Hello again!

It was really great to meet you all and reminisce about my own group's trip to Italy with Michele back in 2009. I've been in your shoes, without knowing much about what to expect (other than the basics) and was a bit nervous before departing. However once the experience was over, I wished we had another month ontop of it!

Each person experiences their travels differently and your story will surely differ from mine. What I can say for sure is that Michele's drawing class in Italy is very well organized and there will be no room for disappointment :)

If you wish to purchase your personalized travel sketchbook from me you can click here for a list of fabrics, papers, prices and sizes.

You can also reach me by e-mail if you have any questions or would like to discuss certain details.

Thank you!

Smart Design Mart

Getting into the deep end of preparing for the Smart Design Mart which will be happening December 2-3-4, 2011! I'm really excited to be a part of it for the first time, while trying get a lot of work done before the deadline. It's not easy doing it all by myself, I might end up having to enlist some help!

As for books, I always discover something new when I make them, and this time was no different. I figured out how to add pencil pockets to my covers! Pure inovation, though I'm sure it's been done before. Regardless, I think it's pretty neat.

I should get back to work now!

Here's to feeding myself good food!

I've been on a roll lately and have been making myself some pretty delicious homemade lunches while I work on my creative projects at home. They're not the most elaborate meals, but the savoury factor has me impressed with myself and appreciative of the time I've taken aside for myself. I, like many crafty-artsy people (I mostly speak for myself) tend to put nutrition on a lower pedestal when working. I usually go for the quick fix (still do somewhat) and eat mostly cold lunches. However, there comes a point where a cold pizza (the italian kind) just doesn't cut it so many times in a row. You should enjoy your food and do your body some delicious good every now and then! Also, I would take quality over quantity any day, but if the quality is really good, I don't mind having more quantity of it ;)

Aside from getting a bit better at eating better, I just shipped out the longcoat I posted about recently! The post office always makes me slightly nervous, as does purchasing travelling insurance, they always tell you about the worst-case scenarios and you end up paying more for peace of mind. Hopefully there is no need to worry, it's been going great so far and selling online has been really exciting.

Etsy longcoat commission

Three cheers for me for finally completing this special custom longcoat ordered by a lovely returning Etsy buyer!! This one was quite the task to accomplish. There were so many obstacles in the way, I was starting to wonder how long it would take to finish! In the end, it took about 4 months from concept to the last stitch and to be honest, I was quite surprised with myself. Although I've sewn clothing before, this garment has a quality I didn't see while working on it. Only now while looking at these photos that I took today of my aunt modelling it, do I see how impressive it actually is. I look forward to making more garments and adding them to the shop.

Speaking of today, I was at my uncle's house and his wife (my aunt) cooked us (and her sister's family who were also visiting) a fantastic lunch that included homemade gnocchis, pasta, meatballs, sausage and even sauce! The vine leaves were store bought but boy were they good.

Bella (their bunny) had her own feast and I second her sentiment, stuffed and sleepy!

CAKE!

How convenient of a shop to allow me to display all of the cakes I made in their display case so I can take this photo. If you haven't guessed yet, that was a joke! I go to this bakery quite often as it is connected to the underground metro and so sometimes I go in and get that mocha cream or coconut cream bun for a dollar thirty cents. While waiting in line however, you get to view this wonderful display of really gorgeous and surprisingly affordable cakes ($3 for a slice and about 15-17 for a cake). The only problem is I never have an occasion to buy them for! I'm almost ready to just buy one because I want to stare it alone in my home like a cr-normal person. I really just might. As the sun begins to set earlier and earlier daily, I will need to find bits of sunshine any where I can find it.

At the pet store

Just got back my film today from when I went trigger happy in a pet store a while back. I had been saving the film for the lantern festival but I couldn't resist snapping when I caught sight of an adorable kitten! And it just got worse from then on. I truly deeply desire to have a pet, my loneliness is catching up with me. I don't know if I would look to a pet store however, knowing how many pets get abandoned daily, it might be better to visit the spca for a specimen to give my love and attention to. Until then, I'll keep taking pictures of these lovelies.
